useful tools to assist them in continuing to make positive choices. We also
hold weekly teen support groups for the participants.
“My Brother’s Keeper and My Sister’s Keeper” KBFLC’s Empowerment Program:
Provides life skills training for men and women ages 18-24. Our program will
offer an interactive, educational methodology that not only focuses on
transmitting knowledge, but also takes aim at shaping attitudes and
developing interpersonal skills. Our main goal to the Life Skills approach
is to enhance the youth’s ability to make wiser/healthier choices and to
take responsibility for the unhealthy/not so wise choices they make.
Housing and Home Repair
KBFLC housing program will assist families in need by providing housing
materials for emergency repairs on existing homes as funds are available and
we are able to assist.
KBFLC outreach programs offer several types of emergency assistance, and
each one is a vital part of our service. We will provide Christmas toy
drives for needy children, coat and hat drives during the winter months for
needy residents, food drives, back to school supplies, we will provide
toiletries, just to name a few. Financial assistance may also be provided to
households, on an emergency basis, to avoid disconnection of services as
funds are available and we are able to assist.
KBFLC will provide two types of housing: Domestic Violence Transitional
Housing, and the “Home Away From Home” which will house the youth who are
displaced from their families because of abusive and dangerous
living/housing conditions. Our transitional house and safe house will staff
counselors who will be trained and certified to deal with chemical
dependency, family re-unification, and support groups, just to name a few.
The facility will provide an eight-step program that equips the residents
with the necessary life skills to become self-sufficient.
